Residential pool renovation is a comprehensive process that aims to transform the pool into a more attractive, functional, and enjoyable space within the home. It serves as a private oasis, offering a space for relaxation, recreation, and socializing within the confines of one’s home. Its design and features can be tailored to the homeowner’s preferences and lifestyle, providing a personalized retreat for both physical activity and leisure.

Waterproofing a pool offers several benefits that contribute to the overall longevity, durability, and maintenance of the pool structure. The primary benefit is the prevention of water leakage. Waterproofing creates a barrier that keeps water from seeping into the ground or surrounding structures, reducing the risk of structural damage. The goal is to create a reliable barrier that prevents water from penetrating the pool’s surface and surrounding structures.

Several procedures are needed to apply waterproofing which start with surface preparation by roughening the surface of the pool to help improve adhesion. The next step is priming, and then we can apply the waterproofing to the pool surface. After that, the surface requires curing, which involves keeping the surface clean and dry for a specified period. Once done, it is crucial to perform a water test to ensure there are no leaks. Once the waterproofing is confirmed to be effective, perform the finishing touches such as tiling, painting, or other decorative elements. Last but not least, the pool requires regular inspection for any sign of damage to prevent water damage and maintain the integrity of the waterproofing system.

Creating a designated rinsing area near a pool is a practical and hygienic solution for maintaining cleanliness after swimming. The rinsing area should ideally be easily accessible from the pool but away from direct splashes to prevent slipping hazards. A free-standing model with a wall-mounted shower fixture is the most preferred design commonly found in hotels and resorts. Therefore, having one at your home will most definitely provide functional and aesthetic benefits.

Consider adding a rinsing basin at ground level for washing off feet before entering the pool area. This helps reduce dirt and debris from being tracked into the pool. Adding seating or benches is very convenient for drying off or putting on footwear.

Pebble wash is a decorative technique commonly used in wet areas such as pool decks, bathrooms, and outdoor shower areas. It can create a natural and organic look by incorporating natural pebbles or aggregates into the surface. This adds texture, depth, and visual interest to the area and creates a natural aesthetic feature. The textured surface of pebble wash provides excellent slip resistance, making it a safe option for areas prone to water exposure. This finishing is relatively low maintenance and easy to clean. To reduce maintenance effort and protect the surface, it is advised to add at least two layers of sealer.

Tiling a pool involves careful preparation, selection of appropriate materials, and precise installation to ensure durability and aesthetics. The tile selection needs to be specific for pool usage, as they are durable, resistant to chemicals, and have a low water absorption rate. To get a good result while tiling, use tile spacers to maintain consistent grout lines. Check the alignment and level of each tile regularly to ensure a uniform and professional-looking finish. After grouting the tile, allow them to cure for 24 hours. Keep the tile area clean and avoid water exposure during the curing process to ensure proper bonding.

Clean the tile surface with a mild detergent and water to remove any remaining grout residue. Apply pool tile sealer to protect the tiles and grout from water damage, staining, and discoloration. Finally, fill the pool with water and monitor for any leaks or issues. For maintenance, regularly clean the tiles and grout to prevent the build-up of dirt, algae, and other contaminants.
